Educational Philosophy

Goals for my classroom are:

  • To engage students through storytelling, movement, games, and real-life projects.

  • Use music to increase memory and change the state of the classroom.

  • Make my classroom a place of excitement and energy so that students find joy in discovering the different aspects of business education.

My educational philosophy is to keep students in motion and actively engaged in their learning. I want my classroom to be a place where students become so engaged in learning that they actually fall in love with learning. Through the use of a variety of instructional strategies; I hope that my students explore that learning isn’t something done inside the walls of a classroom, rather something done through everyday experience and exploration. My philosophy is that through engagement of the brain and body, students learn on a deeper level and form a higher depth of understanding of material.

I always want my students to leave my classroom with an excitement to return the next day. I believe that by engaging students in instruction and helping them become responsible of their learning, we teach students the skills to be successful in their personal and professional lives. Education, to me, goes far beyond grades and test scores; but really encourages students to take action and grow daily. My belief is that if you discover your students’ interests; you will discover the best way to deliver content without students realizing that they are even learning.

Students of today are tomorrow’s future. As an educator, it’s important to me that I invest heavily in my future. I’m excited to have a classroom that consistently keeps students wanting more and developing a deeper understanding of content that can be transferred to different areas of their lives. Through the use of movement, discussion, storytelling, technology, games, and problem-based instruction, I hope to keep my students involved in the lesson and learning skills far beyond what is being taught.

I consider myself a lifelong learner and feel that the classroom should NOT be a place where students learn ONLY from the instructor. The instructor and students should have the opportunity to learn from other students; rather than the instructor being the only form of knowledge or opinion in the classroom. I believe that learning should be fun and interesting rather than filled with note-taking and monotonous work. I feel that my background in school and business will allow me to deliver content to my students in a fun and engaging manner. I truly feel that student involvement is key to successful instruction and positive outcomes.
